Navi Mumbai Metro closer to launch after key approval

NAVI MUMBAI: The Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) issued an interim speed certificate to the Pendhar-Central Park route of Navi Mumbai Metro recently.

Sanjay Mukherjee, Cidco managing director, said “As the trials conducted on the Metro Line-1 were successful, the RDSO granted the interim speed certificate. This allows the Navi Mumbai Metro to deploy the trains at maximum operational speed. This marks an important milestone for the Navi Mumbai Metro.”

An inspection will be conducted by the CMRS and the approval of the Railway Board will be obtained subsequently, said Mukherjee.

Post approval, the commencement of operation is tentatively scheduled for December-end. This certificate was granted after the successful trials conducted last month, and after reviewing documents and test certificates.

It has been issued for the 5.14km route from stations 7 to 11 between Kharghar Central Park and Pendhar.
