Naughty Boy's niece reveals heartbreaking reason he signed up to show

Naughty Boy signed up to the ITV show in a bid to raise awareness for dementia after caring for his mum who suffers with the terrible condition.

The famous music producer also decided to enter the Welsh castle in a bid to step back into the limelight once again, after taking a short break from fame to look after his mother.

Naughty Boy's niece Aisha Shaban has spoken to New Magazine about her uncle, real name Shahid Khan, revealing that the music producer wants to use his platform to raise awareness about dementia.

The star has spent the past five years caring for his 67 year old mum, Zahida, who suffers the heartbreaking condition.

Speaking to the publication Aisha said that she thinks her uncle will talk about dementia and his mother who he has been caring for.

As an ambassador for Dementia UK, she also said that heading into I'm A Celeb is a huge opportunity for him to spread awareness about everything he does "and help everyone see the real him".

Aisha, 23, added that her uncle put work on hold when his mum fell ill, and is now using his I'm A Celeb stint as a way to ease himself back into the public eye.

Speaking to The Mirror exclusively before entering the Welsh castle, Naughty Boy revealed that he moved in with his mum as a primary carer.

He was working on his second album as a performer when in 2017 his mum Zahida suffered a huge stroke that left her in a coma.

She woke, but was not the same. Naughty, immediately put everything on hold to move in with her.

Two years later she was diagnosed with vascular dementia.

“It’s important to have priorities,” said Naughty. “I wanted mum to feel like she was my priority. For two years I pushed the album aside and I’m glad I did that.”

This comes as fans grow tired of Naughty Boy constantly saying that he wants to go home, before changing his mind.

Fans have taken to Twitter to express their views on the star's threats to leave the programme, with one writing "Naughty boy just bloody leave would you, and pull your pants up on the way out."

Another posted: "Naughty Boy giving it the ‘I’m leaving’ guff again. Is he just saying that so when it comes to being voted out he’s kept in? If you want to leave just walk man".

"When she hears people introduce me as Naughty Boy, she gets cross and says, 'no, he’s not Naughty Boy he’s Good Boy!'" (Handout)

I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! will be returning to our screens tonight after taking a short hiatus due to Storm Arwen.

Celebs were pulled out of Gwrych Castle and placed in isolation at a nearby hotel due to the severity of the storm and the damage it was anticipated to cause.

The show was been pre-recorded on Friday evening's episode, following weather warnings later that night, and was subsequently cancelled on Saturday and Sunday after the set was badly damaged by Storm Arwen and the poor weather conditions.

It comes after ITV bosses confirmed that the live show will return tonight (November 30), which was confirmed in a statement.

ITV issued the statement that read: I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! will return from tomorrow night (Tuesday 30th November) on ITV and ITV Hub with a brand new show. Ant & Dec will be back presenting live from the Castle."
