Naughty Boy: Hotel Cabana – review

Naughty? Hardly. This driven former Deal Or No Deal winner turned his parents' old coalshed into a home studio and started producing hits like Emeli Sandé's Our Version of Events. Shahid Khan's break-out single under the Naughty Boy name – the ridiculously catchy La La La – is the bestselling by a British artist this year; now he's working with Britney. Hotel Cabana sounds as you would expect: homegrown, high-end urban pop that over-conceptualises the dangers of fame. Sandé features prominently, as do an all-star cast of (mainly) British A-listers. Think About It is a keeper, but the disparate voices do give this album the disjointed feel of a showreel.
