Natwest online banking 'DOWN' as customers across the UK report problems accessing accounts

Natwest customers are experiencing issues with online banking, and many have been left unable to access their accounts.

In a report by DownDetector - which monitors website failures - the online banking tool has been experiencing technical issues since around 9am today (27 September).

Customers have been writing on DownDetector to share their own frustrating experiences.

"Login in and then wait whilst page is loading, then bombs out. This is a farce and very frustrating. Cant add new payment templates due to error 500, almost 3 weeks this has been going on, is there any resolution in sight?" said one perplexed banking customer.

Another wrote: "Still problem loading content Error message."

A third said: "Login page not loading from 7am to 2.45pm and still can't access any of my accounts... come on get it fixed."

However, the bank says "there are no reported issues with online banking at the moment", and its service status page claims that things are running as usual.

Social media tells a different story, though, as many of the bank's customers have taken to Twitter to complain about the technical gitch.

One customer tweeted: "Hi @NatWest_Help having issue logging on to online banking. The security notice that comes up regarding Thomas Cook, no matter how many times I click the button, after ticking the box it does not proceed. Now been locked out of my account for 10 minutes. Needed to send a payment."

The bank responded with a tweet saying it wasn't aware of any ongoing issues, before stating: "We’re aware that some customers may be experiencing issues logging in to Bankline," the bank tweeted.

"This is currently under investigation however we would advise that you try reconnecting at regular intervals. Apologies for any inconvenience."

The Manchester Evening News has contacted Natwest for comment.
