Masked thugs threatened bank staff with a knife and a hammer during a raid in Bolton.
Officers were called to Natwest in Horwich just before 1pm on Tuesday to reports of a robbery.
Two men went into the bank armed with a knife and a hammer.
They threatened staff before escaping empty handed.

The bank, on Lee Lane, was taped off for several hours while police attended.
An investigation is now underway, and officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
A spokesman for GMP said: "Police were called shortly before 1pm on Tuesday to a report of an armed robbery at a bank on Lee Lane, Horwich.
"Two men with their faces covered entered the premises and made threats toward staff before fleeing.
"It is not believed anything was stolen.
"There were no reports of injuries.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
