Natwest and RBS online banking outage problems fixed after customers couldn't access accounts

Natwest and RBS customers can access their online banking again after both websites were down for a working day.

Customers were unable to access the websites and online banking log in pages from 9am on Tuesday, according to Downdetector.co.uk .

It left both Natwest and RBS customers frozen out of their online banking services for almost an entire working day, although they could use the banks' apps.

Both banks' online banking pages are now back up and running.

NatWest tweeted at 5.45pm on Tuesday to say its page was fixed, with RBS confirming at 4.25pm that its customers could log in again.

The banks, which are both owned by NatWest Holdings, have some 25 million customers between them.

Speaking during the outage, a spokesperson for the banks said: "We are aware that customers are currently experiencing issues accessing our websites and online banking login pages.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

"We are aware of the problem and are working hard to fix it."
