NATO is set to launch military drills above Britain tomorrow following 'global catastrophe' warning

From next week NATO is set to launch military drills which will involve practising the use of Europe's nukes. The drill practice is set to start on Monday, October 17.

It is part of an annual nuclear exercise called Steadfast Noon, which is due to end on October 30. Up to 60 aircrafts will train flights above Belgium, the North Sea and Britain

It has been revealed that the aircrafts involved will include high-tech fighter jets and U.S. B-52 long-range bombers. Despite recent tensions, the routine exercise is not "linked to current world events", according to NATO, the Daily Star reports.

It comes after Vladimir Putin threatened that direct clashes with his country would result in a "global catastrophe." The alliance have issued a statement online which confirmed the drills will not involve live weapons, reports Daily Mail.

Spokesperson Oana Lungescu said the practice aims to ensure that NATO's nuclear deterrent "remains safe, secure and effective." It has been reported that the drills will take place in Belgium and will involve 14 countries.

Russian tyrant Putin said the recent military mobilisation he issued is set to finish. He added that he has no intentions for additional conscriptions to follow. The leader spoke in Astana following a meeting of The Commonwealth of Independent States Summit (CIS) and sat down with leaders of former-Soviet states.

He told reporters: "The introduction of troops into a direct confrontation with the Russian army is a very dangerous step that could lead to a global catastrophe. I hope that those who speak of this have enough sense not to take such steps."

He added: "There is no need now for massive strikes. There are other tasks. For now. And then it will be clear.

"We do not set ourselves the task of destroying Ukraine. No, of course not."

The Daily Star recently reported how Putin suffered fresh humiliation after his Russian-appointed mayor in Ukraine requested to be evacuated from his takeover city. Vladimir Saldo begged the Russian government to help arrange a departure of residents in the Kherson region.

It comes as Ukrainian forces battle to recapture their territory. He appealed on Telegram on October 13 and said: "Take your children and leave.
