NATO Expresses Frustration Over Israel's Actions In Gaza

Ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, in Gaza City

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide expressed concerns over Israel's actions in Gaza during a recent NATO meeting in Brussels. He highlighted the frustration felt within NATO regarding Israel's perceived excessive use of force, particularly in the recent attack on a World Central Kitchen convoy that resulted in the deaths of seven aid workers.

Eide emphasized that even those who had been supportive of Israel in the past were now questioning the extent of its military actions. He referenced Israel's internal report on the convoy strikes, noting the ease with which Israeli forces seemed to target individuals based on what he described as questionable evidence.

The foreign minister acknowledged the global criticism directed at Israel following the incident, including from some of its closest allies. He suggested that such heightened scrutiny could potentially lead to a shift in behavior.

Eide called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing the need for humanitarian aid to be prioritized and eventually paving the way for a political resolution to the conflict.
