Nationwide police hunt for man wanted on theft and fraud charges by Northumbria Police

Police have asked for public help in a nationwide search for a man who dodged a court appearance in the North East.

Julian Evans, 41, originally from Wales, who also goes by the name Simon Webb, is wanted in relation to a number of theft and fraud offences which were allegedly committed in the Northumbria Police area.

Police say he failed to appear at court earlier this year, and a UK-wide search for him was launched.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Efforts have been ongoing to locate Julian, who is also known as Simon Webb, and a number of searches are being carried out throughout England, Wales and Scotland with Evans known to travel throughout the UK.

"Now police are asking members of the community who might have seen him or who might know his whereabouts to come forward with information."

Evans, or anyone who believes they have seen him, are asked to contact police quoting reference 1432923.

Alternatively, people can pass information anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
