The long-awaited matchup between pitching phenoms Dylan Bundy and Stephen Strasburg will have to wait.
The Washington Nationals placed Strasburg on the 15-day disabled list Monday afternoon with right elbow soreness. He was scheduled to start Monday night against Bundy at Camden Yards. The Nationals recalled right-hander A.J. Cole from AAA to make the start.
Strasburg is 15-4 with a 3.59 ERA. He was the first pick in the 2009 draft.
Bundy, who started the year in the bullpen, was drafted by the Orioles in 2011 at No. 4. He is 6-4 with a 3.36 ERA overall in 29 appearances this year. In his seven starts, he is 4-3 with a 3.65 ERA.
Cole appeared in three games last year. He gave up six earned runs in 9 1/3 innings in his three appearances. He did not record a win or loss.
