Nationals manager Davey Martinez had to be restrained by two coaches before being ejected from Game 6

The umpires made an absolutely bizarre call in the top of the seventh inning of Game 6 of the World Series, calling Trea Turner out for interference when he appeared to run a straight line to first base.

It’s been a bad series for the umpires, but this was the most egregious call yet. They had a long booth review … and they still ruled Turner out. We’ve read the rule, we looked at the rule, it still doesn’t make any sense. There’s no real way to argue Turner should have been out, but they called him out, went to a review, and then confirmed it.

Nationals fans lost their minds. Trea Turner lost his mind. Nationals manager Davey Martinez got furious when it happened, stayed furious, and then, after the inning was over, went nuclear.

Two coaches had to hold Martinez back from the umpires. He still managed to fight his way free, and then was ejected from the game. It’s the first manager to get ejected from the World Series since Bobby Cox did it, because of course Bobby Cox did it.

We look forward to hearing what Martinez has to say after the game.
