National Trust unveils Beano exhibition for summer and kids are going to love it

The National Trust is getting ready to celebrate all things mischief and mayhem with a brand new Beano exhibition!

Beano Time Travellers! at Mottisfont in Hampshire will celebrate 8- years of Britain's longest running children's comic with everything from a bespoke trail to original artwork and a behind-the-scenes look at how comics are created.

One of the biggest highlights is sure to be the Beano Time Travellers trail in the garden,  an interactive adventure featuring the likes of the Bash Street Kids, Dennis and Gnasher, and Minnie the Minx.

The notorious characters are on a school trip to Mottisfont and create a time machine to experience some of the National Trust property’s 800 year-old history for themselves.

Unfortunately it breaks down, scattering pieces throughout the grounds - and it's up to families to help them hunt around the garden to find them all and piece it back together!

Back indoors you'll find rooms dedicated entirely to some of Beano's most famous characters with original artwork, iconic moments throughout the comic's history such as ‘the great gnational gnasher search’ in the 1980s, and colourful covers from special editions.

Keep an eye out for the original artwork for the first Minnie the Minx comic, which has never been shown publicly before, as well as plenty of dedicated spaces for Dennis and Gnasher and even a comic book version of Mottisfont itself.

Oh and of course there will be plenty of photo opportunities, dressing up boxes and comics to read.

(Collectors can also pick up vintage merchandise from a Beano bicycle to a pair of bespoke Doc Martens).

Kids can also create their very own comic strip using a specially designed template, which they can enter into a competition to win a special Beano prize.

The exhibition will run from Saturday 20th July through to Sunday 8th September so it could make for an ideal summer day out.

Entrance will be included in the usual admission price (free for National Trust members); adult tickets from £16.50, child tickets from £8.25 and family tickets from £41.25.
