National Trust sites in Edinburgh area people can still visit for essential exercise

Six National Trust sites remain open in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife for locals to enjoy while they do their daily exercise.

Current coronavirus lockdown rules mean people must remain at home unless for essential purposes.

However, as exercise is among these purposes, National Trust Scotland say some of their more iconic attractions remain open for people to visit for a stretch of the legs.

As reported by the Daily Record, people must adhere to strict restrictions when visiting, and are advised to check individual property pages and opening times before visiting.

Travel restrictions remain in place, so only those who live local to the attractions are permitted to visit.

So what sites remain open to visitors in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife?

  • Newhailes, estate only (play park shut), Musselburgh
  • Malleny Garden, Balerno
  • Inveresk Lodge Garden, Inveresk, Musselburgh
  • House of the Binns, Linlithgow
  • Hill of Tarvit, Cupar
  • Kellie Castle, Pittenweem, Anstruther

A spokesperson for National Trust Scotland said: “Please adhere to local restrictions as set out by the Scottish Government when visiting our places, and check individual property pages for more information (including opening times) before you set off.”
