for this year, as well as Ant & Dec, include big dramas like Killing Eve and Peaky Blinders and Ru Paul's Drag Race UK, which is on the shortlist for the first time.

The nominations were announced at the start of the month, but one that was missed off the list was the Special Recognition Award. Past winners of the prestigious accolade include Graham Norton, Billy Connolly, Paul O'Grady and Ant & Dec.

And now the 2020 Special Recognition recipient has been revealed as TV legend Sir Michael Palin. His special award will mark the 50th anniversary of Monty Python and 30 years of travel documentaries. 1989 saw the launch of Sir Michael’s ground breaking travel series Around the World in 80 Days  which changed the face of popular factual TV.
