National Television Awards postponed until April 2021 due to coronavirus

The National Television Awards have been pushed back until April 2021 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The highly-anticipated awards ceremony usually takes place in January each year at London's famous O2 arena.

But the show will now take place three months later than usual - on Tuesday April 20.

A statement from an NTAs spokesperson today read: "The National Television Awards has today announced that the 2021 NTAs has been rescheduled to Tuesday 20th April 2021 and tickets will be honoured for the new date.

"Information about new NTA voting categories being launched in 2021 and the first round of voting will be released this Autumn."

On the NTAs' official website, another statement says: "Get ready for the next NTAs on Tuesday 20th April 2021 from The O2 London!"

Organisers are believed to have pushed back the event due to health and safety considerations.

Taking to Twitter, fans expressed their disappointment over the delay.

One wrote: "So National Television Awards are no longer in January and been pushed back to April 2021 whoa."

As another shared: "As if they’ve changed the National Television Awards To April."

Every year, the public gets to vote for their favourite TV shows, personalities and soaps.

The award categories range from best TV Presenter to Live Magazine Show.

In January this year, viewers watching from home saw David Walliams host the well-loved show.

Geordie Duo Ant and Dec and This Morning's Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield won their respective categories in this year's run.
