National Symphony Orchestra musician plays 'Baby Shark' for neighbours on lockdown

Two classically trained musicians treated their neighbours to a rendition of “Baby Shark” while on lockdown.

US National Symphony Orchestra David Murray partnered with violinist Elise Blake for the performance.

The NSO shared a clip of the moment on social media on Friday.

It features both musicians standing outside and performing a classical version of the children’s tune.

“Baby Shark” ascended to viral success after the South Korean entertainment company Pinkfong put out its own recording of it in November 2015.

A version of the song with an accompanying choreography has been watched five billion times on YouTube.

Earlier this week, the NSO shared a video of its musicians playing the fourth movement from Beethoven’s Symphony No 7 during a joint, remote performance.

The NSO’s main performing venue is usually the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC.

The centre has postponed all performances through 9 August due to the coronavirus pandemic.
