National motor factors firm signs up for space at growing Derby business park

A national motor factors firm has become the latest name to sign up for space at a growing Derby business park.

Motor Parts Direct, has opened a new trade counter unit at the Northedge Business Park, in Alfreton Road.

The firm is a national operator, which supplies motor factors to the UK market. The company joins existing occupiers, which include Garrandale, Eriks and Toolstation.

Northedge Business Park is a brand new development, which is being built over a number of phases.

Owned and developed by local property company Morgan Industrial Properties, it provides modern high-specification warehouse/industrial and trade counter units.

The Motor Parts Direct letting was secured by David Brown Commercial.

Michael Green, surveyor at David Brown, said: “We anticipated that this unit would not hang around for very long being of a popular size and located adjacent to Toolstation with good roadside prominence.

“We were delighted to secure a national name such as Motor Parts Direct for our clients Morgan Industrial Properties. Not only that, Motor Parts Direct have created 10 local jobs by opening this new unit.”

This summer, permission was granted by Derby City Council to bulldoze buildings to make way for the latest phase of Northedge Business Park.

Morgan Industrial Properties was given the go-ahead to demolish the home of Garrandale, an engineering firm that is a key supplier to city train-maker Bombardier.

Garrandale is moving to a brand new unit at Northedge, while Morgan redevelops its old 2.9 acre site with more industrial units.

The demolition work will begin in January and aim to be completed by the end of March.

David Powell, commercial property manager at Morgan Industrial Properties, said: “Northedge has proven to be a popular location for national and local operators looking to upgrade their current premises to new-build.

“Phase Five of the scheme is currently in planning and we expect to deliver new units to the market in the fourth quarter of 2020, on the former Garrandale site.

“The units are currently being marketed on a pre-let basis by our agents David Brown Commercial.”
