National Lottery urging punters to check slips after EuroMillions ticket worth €400,907 sold in Co Laois

An Irish EuroMillions punter has enjoyed a dream start to the Bank Holiday Weekend after scooping over €400k in Friday night's draw.

The lucky golden slip, worth €400,907 was sold at Dunnes Stores in the Kyle Shopping Centre , Portlaoise, Co Laois.

Agonisingly, the player was just one number short of scooping the entirety of the whopping €61,669,532 jackpot.

The National Lottery is now appealing for players in Portlaoise to check their tickets.

Another Irish punter won themselves a tidy €56,035 on Friday night, with a ticket purchased online.

A National Lottery spokesman said: “We are urging all our EuroMillions players across the country, whether they played online or in one of our 6,000 agents all over the country, to check their tickets to see if they have won prizes but particularly those who played in Portlaoise as somebody has won this €400,907 bonus.

"This person was so close to being Ireland’s 15 EuroMillions jackpot winner.”

“If you find you are the winner of the €400,907 prize, be sure to sign the back of the ticket, keep this valuable piece of paper safe and contact our prize claims team on 01 836 4444 and we will make arrangements for you to come to the National Lottery to get your prize.

"We’d also encourage our online players to check their emails to see if they have won the €56,035 prize”.

The winning EuroMillions numbers for last night’s draw were:  34, 37, 39, 40, 50  and the Lucky Star numbers were 04 and 10.
