National Lottery sends out warning after couple miss out on £182m Euromillions windfall

The National Lottery has issued a warning and some guidance to people who play it weekly.

It comes after a couple from Hertfordshire lost out on the opportunity of a lifetime - a staggering Euromillions win of £182 million.

Liam and Rachel, both from Hertfordshire, did not have enough funds on their online account to buy a ticket for the draw, which saw all their regular numbers come up, Birmingham Live reports.

Lorraine told ITV viewers it was a "tough one" and urged them to "spare a thought" for Rachel - who goes to university in Brighton - and her partner.

The pair, aged 19, have been left “absolutely heartbroken”.

A Camelot spokesperson said: "We're aware of Rachel's story and hope she gets in early to buy a ticket for the next big draw. We have a £20m Must Be Won Lotto jackpot up for grabs on Saturday, so wish her the best of luck in that or any future draws."

They realised their usual numbers of 6, 12, 22, 29, 33, 6 and 11 had come up.

They had played the same numbers for five weeks in a row, before all seven digits appeared in Friday night's draw.

Lorraine said: "Their regular numbers all came up in the draw but their online account had not purchased a ticket because it did not have enough funds.

"Oh, oh oh. Jeez. Spare a thought for them. It is a tough one, isn't it? Yes. That is definitely a tough one."

Lorraine continues to air each weekday at 9am on ITV1 after GMB airs.
