National Lottery bosses announce €7.3million Lotto jackpot winning ticket was sold in Co Galway

Lotto bosses have announced that the punter who scooped the €7.3million jackpot bought their ticket in Co Galway.

The player became the eighth jackpot winner of the year after claiming the top prize in Saturday night's draw.

The National Lottery is now appealing to punters in the county to check their tickets.

A spokesman said: "With a jackpot win of this magnitude, it is important that we inform the winning retailer and of course to give the winning ticketholder the time and space they need to let this €7.3million win sink in.

"Last night’s draw produced more than 116,000 winners across the country so we are encouraging everybody who bought a Lotto ticket to check them very carefully – particularly those who played in Co. Galway!

"If you are one of the lucky winners of any of last night’s big prizes, please sign the back of the ticket and contact our prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email  claims@lottery.ie  and we will make arrangements for you to collect your prize."

The winning numbers were 03, 07, 18, 36, 40 and 42 and the bonus number was 16.

Another ticketholder in Co Sligo was one number short of sharing the jackpot.

This player bought their ticket in the Topaz Service Station in Grange and will pocket a sweet €65,136.
