National Highways keen to reunite soft toy found on M1 with owner

A soft toy has been making itself at home in Felley as National Highways look to reunite it with its owner.

The cuddly toy was recovered from the M1 on Sunday evening and has been put to work in the National Highways East Midlands' Felley outstation.

The toy, which was described as “very tame” by motorway staff, appeared to be in good condition despite having been exposed to one of the United Kingdom's busiest motorways.

In a tweet on Monday morning National Highways: East Midlands said: “Missing a passenger?

“This very tame bear was recovered from M1 on Sunday evening.

“It seems none the worse for its ordeal and has settled in nicely at our Felley Outstation.”

According to gov.uk, National Highways remove more than 200,000 sacks of litter and debris from the roads they manage – which consists of motorways and a small number of A roads - every year.
