National Express apologises after passengers unable to book tickets by telephone or online for almost a day

National Express has fully restored its website after people were left unable to book bus journeys online or by phone since yesterday. The bus operator had been seeing issues since Tuesday which left many people unable to book or amend journeys either on its website or by phone.

Travellers first started reporting problems on Tuesday afternoon with people on social media saying the website was working but was not allowing people to buy tickets. Soon people were also reporting not being able to book trips on the National Express phone line.

National Express said it had finally resolved the technical issues at around 12pm on Wednesday, posting online to say customers were now able to book without issue and apologising for the inconvenience.

Tweets to the company by travellers on Tuesday and Wednesday showed many were left unable to book tickets for trips as they were being kicked out of the website or unable to have bookings processed. People also said they couldn't make changes to any existing bookings.

The message on the National Express social media today said: "Our booking channels are now restored and we apologise for the inconvenience. Due to the large number of contacts we have had regarding this issue we will not be responding to these messages and encourage you to try again and you will now have a much better experience."
