For most of us who don't live under a rock, the day doesn't really begin until we've had our first cup of coffee. And the only thing that feels better than holding your favorite brew in your hands is getting that coffee for the low-low price of absolutely free.

Fortunately, there's a holiday for that. Coffee shops across the U.S. and the world will be giving out that sweet, sweet (bitter) bean juice for free in celebration of National Coffee Day.

When are International and National Coffee Day? What's the difference?

For the rest of the world, the caffeinated celebration begins on Oct. 1. But don't worry – some local spots are still giving away freebies for those celebrating stateside.
