National Cocktail Day: Where to get your hands on the best drinks deals in Bristol

Today is National Cocktail Day in the UK and this year it aptly falls on a Friday meaning there's only one way to kickstart the weekend.

Bristol is home to dozens of well-established cocktails bars - two of which reached national acclaim this year.

Many of you will already be well acquainted with the well-known bar chains offering 2-for-1 deals all year round - but are you familiar with some of the offerings slightly off the beaten track? Here is a list of some of the best deals in Bristol offering a first-class experience:

The Vittoria

This Clifton pub offers a specially crafted cocktail menu with drinks priced at just £5 each before 10pm, rising to £6.50 thereafter. Choose from Filthy Flamingo, The Basil Rathbone or keep it simple with an Old Fashioned.

The Vittoria offers a charming atmosphere set against a cosy backdrop - even including a real working fireplace. Keep an eye and an ear out for their live jazz events each week to elevate your cocktail experience.

The Bootlegger

Serving up both cocktail classics and their own connections is the Bootlegger on Cheltenham Road. The venue promises 'clever' cocktails served in a cool, snug space with vintage decor, DJs and an outdoor area.

You can mix and match any two cocktails from Bootlegger's extensive menu for £14. Their happy hour is until 7pm from Sunday until Friday and until 6pm on Saturday.

The Blue Lagoon

Promising some of Gloucester Road’s finest cocktails is The Blue Lagoon, with their self titled beverage holding citywide acclaim. They offer an extensive list of drinks alongside an all-day menu, with cooked breakfasts in the morning and burgers by night.

Their cocktail menu is available all week, with a 2-for-1 deal Sunday-Thursday between 5pm-11pm excluding Bank Holidays and large scale events.

Loose Cannon

This bar near the harbourside is known for its unusual combinations executed with flair. Look out for their two house cocktails for £10 deal which they offer on occasion.

Flipside

They don't offer 2-for-1 but Flipside do offer cocktails starting from £8 which is a decent deal. Their two menus are named 'Old Skool Covid' and 'Lockdown Wannabes' to differentiate between the classic cocktails and their own inventions.

Flipside boasts one of the biggest selections of local craft beers all from within 10 miles or so all to be enjoyed with some of Bristol's finest cocktail slingers and DJs in a beautiful setting with a garden.

The Rummer

This bar offers a bespoke cocktail service where you can concoct your own Negroni, Martini, Collins or Bloody Mary for just £8. It claims to be the oldest licenced premises in Bristol with the current building dating from 1742 and was built on the site of an older inn dating from 1241.

The Rummer uses quality local produce to provide outstanding cocktails and other carefully selected offerings in a relaxed and intimate setting.
