Former 'Bachelorette' star Meredith Phillips claims she was drugged, sexually assaulted on set
Meredith Phillips, who starred on season 2 of "The Bachelorette" in 2004, alleged a female masseuse "roofied" and "kind of accosted" her during filming of the reality show.
Phillips claimed she had complained about being tired during filming, at which point producers sent a massage therapist to help her relax. The woman, she said, gave her an unidentified pill.
"I just assumed it was an aspirin or something to loosen up my back, or Tylenol, or something. And it definitely wasn't that, that's for sure," Phillips said on the "Reality Steve" podcast hosted by Steve Carbone.
"The last thing I remember was she got naked and she was in the tub with me, and rubbing my back and rubbing areas probably she shouldn't have. And then I was put in bed. I woke up naked. Don't remember much."
Phillips, who previously opened up about a battle with alcoholism, said she hadn't been drinking that night.
"This is hard for me to talk about," she said on the podcast. "I think I've put it somewhere else in my brain so when you bring this up, it's definitely right there in the forefront as we're speaking. I remember everything until a certain point and when the pill kicked in I literally couldn't even move my body, so I have no idea what the pill was at all."
Phillips finished the show, choosing Ian McKee in the final episode. The couple broke up a year later, calling it a mutual split.
