Nathaniel Mendez-Laing returns to Instagram with first post since Cardiff City exit as he holidays in Dubai

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has broken his social media silence by posting his first photo since his shock exit from Cardiff City on the eve of the Championship season.

Bluebirds fans were rocked when the club announced just three days out from the beginning of the campaign that one of their star players had seen his contract terminated over what City described as a "breach of terms".

Weeks before the announcement, eagle-eyed Cardiff fans had noticed that the 28-year-old winger had taken down his social media pages.

He unblocked his Instagram later that week, only to upload a screenshot of a statement issued by his management team pertaining to his exit on his story.

Now, though, he has posted a photo on his feed for the first time with his four-month-old son Táo, who was being dipped in the pool while holidaying in Dubai.

Mendez-Laing captioned the post: "Don’t worry bout nothing! Daddy will always have your back."

Quite clearly, there are still many unanswered questions.

Just what the breach of contract was and the severity of it are the two key questions which remain and whether they will be answered in time is anyone's guess at the moment.

But another important question Cardiff City fans will have centres around what the flying winger's immediate future holds.

Will he will rock up at a rival club this season, or will he be out of the game for an extended period?

Mendez-Laing is unattached, so he might still be taken on as a free agent at some point.

Given the legal wranglings still hanging over this one, there has been precious little information come out since the initial bombshell statement.

But, for now at least, it looks as though quality family time away from it all is at the forefront of his mind.
