Nathaniel Clyne signs new Crystal Palace contract until the end of the season

Nathaniel Clyne has signed a new contract at Crystal Palace that will keep him at the club until until at least the end of the 2020/21 season.

Clyne came through the Palace academy and made his debut for the club back in 2008, before moves taking him to Southampton and Liverpool.

After being without a club this summer, the defender came back to Palace to train with the club in an attempt to build his fitness before the club agreed a deal to sign him midway through October.

The 29-year-old has made nine appearances in the Premier League this season, as he offers competition to Joel Ward with summer signing Nathan Ferguson yet to make an appearance due to ongoing injury difficulties.

"I'm delighted to have extended my contract and I'm enjoying my football," Clyne told the club website.

"The players have been top class and I'm enjoying working with the manager and the coaching staff, and looking forward to the rest of the season."

Palace chairman Steve Parish added that the club had been pleased by Clyne's performance levels since re-joined in October, and that he was happy an agreement had been reached.

"It's been great having Nathaniel back at the club," Parish added.

"He's put in really good performances for us and I'm delighted we could secure him for the rest of the season."
