Nathan Tyson makes case for Notts County deal with hat-trick against Ilkeston

Notts County ended another troubled week off the pitch with a convincing victory on it as they romped to a 5-0 win at Ilkeston.

Former Nottingham Forest striker Nathan Tyson led the way with a hat-trick while further goals from Kristian Dennis and Enzio Boldewijn capped off a convincing display.

Notts boss Neal Ardley included five trialists in the victory of which Tyson was the standout performer as he looks for a new club following his release from Wycombe.

Kyel Reid, Dion Kelly-Evans, Chris Camwell and Remi Streete were also included as Notts took on an Ilkeston side that is also owned by Magpies chairman Alan Hardy.

The Notts owner was not in the stands to see the win during a week that had seen the Magpies avoided being wound up by a High Court judge in order to give time to a Danish consortium to complete a takeover.

But with staff still unpaid, funds  raised from this game, which amounted to £1,485,  will go to the staff affected as the club’s financial problems continue to bite hard.

The players have also not not been paid, but they showed excellent professionalism throughout the victory which saw them take a four goal lead into the break.

Tyson opened the scoring with a simple tap-in but then followed it up with an excellent finish after good work from Boldewijn.

The Dutchman then made it three himself with a splendid solo effort before Tyson completed his hat-trick courtesy of a Reid cross.

It was then left to Dennis to wrap up the win when he produced a cool finish after being picked out by Tyson.

Ardley can certainly be satisfied with the workout as Notts  recorded their second successive pre-season victory.
