Nathan Patterson set for Everton transfer relaunch as Rangers 'brace for January bid' for right-back rising star

Everton will reportedly come in with a new offer for Rangers rising star Nathan Patterson in January, having been rebuffed in the summer window.

The Scotland international is highly rated at Ibrox, with the 20-year-old impressing both at home and in Europe.

Though he's played just 20 club games the youngster has been attracting interest from elsewhere, with Everton seeing a bid turned down in the summer.

And the Daily Mail reports that Rafa Benitez is still keen on a move and could return with a new offer in January.

The English Premier League side had been planning to go back in with a bid of over £10m but Patterson was forced into self-isolation with Covid-19 and that scuppered any potential move.

Everton then turned their attention to Ashley Maitland-Niles of Arsenal but failed to secure a loan deal before the end of the summer window.

Patterson has also been linked with Manchester United, but won't be allowed to leave on the cheap.

An initial offer from Everton was around £5m and manager Steven Gerrard made clear that would be nowhere near enough.

He said at the time: "You carry on with the jokes – £5m, wow.

“Look, I’ve only just been told about this.

“It hasn’t been brought to my attention by anyone above me at the club.

“I’ll ask the question when I go back on the bus but if you’re going to talk about Nathan Patterson you need to get real.

"£5m is, I don’t know, that’s definitely come out of a joke book surely.

“I don’t make the decisions in terms of when the right numbers are hit.

“All the players have got a price, we’ve said this so many times.

“We want to keep all our best players, especially our homegrown and local ones.

“There’s a big future here for Nathan. He’s got to be patient and he’ll get game time and minutes.

“We’re delighted with him, he’s not someone we’re looking to move on but every single person has got a number. But let me tell you now, £5m is so far away it’s unreal.”
