James Tavernier says Nathan Patterson 's Scotland masterclass was just reward for the hard work he has been putting in at Rangers.
And he's challenged the youngster to keep it up and show Giovanni van Bronckhorst he can do it at club level too.
Tavernier was speaking to the press for the first time since Van Bronckhorst replaced Steven Gerrard and he welcomed the "fresh start" many players will get under the new boss.
Patterson is certainly one who could benefit from that as game-time was difficult to come by under Gerrard due to skipper Tavernier's undroppable presence in front of him.
But Tavernier knows as long as Patterson is nipping at his heels, he can't allow his performance levels to drop.
And he was full of praise for his matchwinning performance for Steve Clarke's team in Moldova that saw Patterson score one and assist another in a comfortable 2-0 victory.
He said: "It's a fresh page for everyone with the new manager coming in. There's a chance for everyone.
"Nathan didn't get too much game time before the break, but the performance he put in, scoring the goal and getting an assist.
"He's training well every day, I'm pushing him, he's pushing me and he's developing really well.
"I'm always here to help him to develop and I know the boys are.
"He's keeping his head down, he's working really hard. We're pushing each other and that's what."
