Nathan Patterson receives Rangers exit warning as Rafa Benitez situation is one Everton sticking point

Nathan Patterson has been told that he has flashes of Scotland star Kieran Tierney within him - but Everton's managerial situation could prove a challenge after leaving Rangers.

The Scotland international has sealed a blockbuster move to the English Premier League and that has netted his boyhood club a record fee.

And Rangers could be due even more from the Toffees if the conditions of a significant package of add-ons are met.

The 20-year-old made his breakthrough at Ibrox last season having come through the academy ranks at the club.

Meanwhile, Everton manager Rafa Benitez's long-term Merseyside future is in doubt as the Goodison club languish in the Premier League's 15th spot.

Former Celtic and Scotland star Davie Provan reckons it could be a challenge for Patterson if the axe is wielded on Benitez.

He told Go Radio: "I see shades of Kieran Tierney about him. I know he’s at a younger age than Kieran was when he made his move but I see similar potential.

“There’s such an assurance about him for such a young man. The only slight concern is that I don’t think Rafa Benitez will be there that much longer at Everton.

“It’s always good to have the manager who signed you when you're trying to bed in at a club and that may not be the case.

"Either way though, he has the ability to prove himself at Everton."
