Nathan Patterson offered Rangers transfer advice as Alan Hutton warns 'think carefully' about Everton move

Ex Rangers defender Alan Hutton has told Nathan Patterson to think carefully about his next move amid reported interest from Everton.

The teenager has barely had a look-in at Ibrox this season but his career is moving forward full steam ahead.

He was named in Steve Clarke 's Scotland squad for September's World Cup qualifying triple-header and has been subject to interest from England's Premier League.

It was reported last week that Everton had bid £5m for his services but that was thrown out by Rangers with Steven Gerrard labelling it 'a joke'.

The young right-back is rated very highly at Ibrox despite currently being stuck behind James Tavernier in the pecking order.

And Hutton, who played 122 times at right-back for Rangers, has urged him to consider his next step carefully.

He told Football Insider: "The next movement for him is playing regular football. It’s going to be difficult. I’ve wracked my brain about this. What do you do as a player in his position?

"The possibility of a move, it is a big decision he’s going to have to make.

"Does he sit there and fight for his place against Tavernier? Or is the option of moving a better one? It’s something that he’ll have to consider."
