Chris Sutton reckons Nathan Patterson could end up considering his long-term Rangers future due to a lack of game time.
The 19-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season last term and Ibrox leading to him being brought into Steve Clarke's Scotland plans.
Despite his meteoric rise over the past 18 months, he has made just three appearances for the Premiership champions this term with skipper James Tavernier holding down the right-back slot.
Former Celtic hero Sutton believes Patterson made not be happy to wait in the wings for an opportunity, with English Premier League side Everton already coming calling in the summer.
Sutton told BT Scottish Football Extra: "They need to find a way to keep him fit, really. To get him and Tavernier in the team is going to be difficult for Steven Gerrard.
"There is a good player in there. He is a young man and will want to play week in, week out. He is good enough to play week in and week out, so that will be interesting to see whether he has his head turned eventually."
Host Darrell Currie reminded Sutton of the bid from Everton had been knocked back by Rangers, and Sutton added: "Well, there you go.
"Why wouldn't he want to go to a bigger club?"
Fellow pundit Ally McCoist laughed off the snipe, joking: "I'll gloss over that, he's trying to wind me up."
