Former Scotland captain Barry Ferguson has tipped Nathan Patterson to shine at Euro 2020.
The 19-year-old is yet to make his international debut but could feature in Sunday’s friendly with Luxemburg.
The Rangers right-back impressed when called upon this season but a stand-out performance (if selected) may be required before pipping trusted Stephen O’Donnell in the starting 11.
Ferguson has every confidence in the youngster, explaining on the Go Radio Football Show: “I think if he’s given the opportunity, a lot of people will be impressed.”
He added: “I have no doubt that if he plays, he’ll go out and do a proper job for Scotland.
“If he’s good enough, give him the opportunity.”
Steve Clarke has looked settled on his full-back starters but Sunday could be a likely chance to hand out more opportunities for the less experienced in the squad.
Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with the Netherlands saw David Turnbull and Billy Gilmour don the nation’s colours for the first time at senior level.
It leaves Patterson the only player uncapped out of the 26-man squad.
Also on the show, Mark Guidi agreed and tipped him to start against the Czechs on June 14.
“He’s there to be better than Stephen O’Donnell”, he said.
“It’s good to see players for lesser clubs, outwith the Old Firm get the chance to play for Scotland.
“I don’t see any reason why Patterson can’t start against the Czech Republic.”
Guidi also commended the right-back’s “explosive burst of pace” and explained people shouldn’t rule him out a place in the starting 11 during the tournament.
