Nathan Patterson Everton injury blow as Frank Lampard confirms return timeline for luckless defender

Scotland full back Nathan Patterson is facing yet another spell on the Everton sidelines after being ruled out for six weeks with his latest knee injury, Goodison Park boss Frank Lampard has confirmed.

The former Rangers man only returned from an ankle injury, picked up while on Scotland Nations League duty against Ukraine, before the winter World Cup break and the luckless defender is out again.

Patterson was forced off after an hour the 4-1 thrashing at home to Brighton & Hove Albion which has put Lampard under serious pressure and he confirmed the news ahead of Friday night’s daunting FA Cup trip to Old Trafford where they face in-form Manchester United.

The England legend said: “He’s out for six weeks unfortunately. It’s a medial ligament injury. He had a scan this week. Six weeks sounds like a long time but he will be back.” Going by that timeline, Patterson would still be back for a month before Scotland kick off their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign at home to Cyprus on March 25.
