Nathan Patterson and David Turnbull not in Scotland squad as Rangers and Celtic pair sit out qualifiers

Scotland boss Steve Clarke has named his squad for the World Cup qualifiers next month - but couldn't find space for Nathan Patterson and David Turnbull.

They were two players supporters wanted included with Patterson impressing at right back, a position that has been a problem for Scotland in recent years.

There are six players from Celtic and Rangers in the squad, including out-of-favour Hoops defender Jack Hendry who has impressed in Belgium on loan at Oostende.

He's joined by his Celtic team-mates Greg Taylor, Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor while Rangers pair Ryan Jack and Jon McLaughlin are also in.

Patterson and Turnbull have been left out though, as has former Rangers kid Billy Gilmour who has struggled for game time at Chelsea since Thomas Tuchel took over.

There is two new faces up front though, with Southampton striker Che Adams declaring for Scotland, while Kevin Nisbet is also involved after impressing for Hibs.
