Nathan Patterson admits he can scarcely believe being suddenly catapulted into Scotland stardom.
The Rangers right-back was still mixing it with the U21s when Steve Clarke's side secured their place at Euro 2020.
But now the 19-year-old has joined the senior setup at their pre-tournament training camp in Spain after forcing his way into the squad.
Patterson could earn his first full cap against the Netherlands on Wednesday and insists it's a "dream come true".
He said: "It's mad. When we were with the 21s we were watching the boys qualify.
"Being a part of the squad now, it's a bit of a surreal moment.
"It's been great, a dream come true to be a Scotland 'A' player.
"But now I'm here.
"It's been good meeting all the boys. They've been great with me.
"I've been sitting having a chat with a few of them, getting to know them. It's been great."
It took Patterson just seven Premiership appearances to convince Clarke he was worth adding to his 26-man contingent.
The teenager insists it's through being consistent every single day he's made such an impression in a staggeringly short space of time.
Asked how he's made the breakthrough, Patterson replied: "Just being consistent in training and working hard every day.
"Making sure I'm ready for any opportunities that came my way throughout the full season.
"I made sure I was willing to do anything to get on the pitch and I think that worked out for me at the end of the season."
