Nathan Ake transfer decision amid Newcastle links and Boubacar Kamara 'twist'

Here is your 4am Newcastle United transfer digest:

Ake decision

The Magpies' January transfer plans have been the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks, and Nathan Ake is one of a number of defenders linked with a St James' Park switch.

The Dutch international worked with Eddie Howe, and sealed a switch to Premier League champions Manchester City following the Cherries relegation.

However, the 26-year-old has found his opportunities limited at the Etihad Stadium, leading to reports indicating a mid-season exit could be on the cards.

Ake has only made seven appearances so far this season, but Football Insider report City are not prepared to listen to offers for the Chelsea defender in January.

Kamara 'twist'

Boubacar Kamara has long been linked with a move to Newcastle, and the Marseille midfielder's contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

The 22-year-old was due to attend a press conference on Friday ahead of Sunday's clash with Troyes, but Inside Futbol report via RMC that he 'refused to appear'.

The report outlines how the reason for this no show is 'unclear', with negotiations over a contract extension still said to be ongoing.

Kamara reportedly has a 'number of offers' on the table, with Newcastle said to be one of those interested in a free transfer this summer.

Competition for King

Football Insider also claim that the Magpies and Manchester United have 'set their sights' on Rangers' teenager Leon King.

The defender signed his first professional contract at Ibrox earlier last year, but the 17-year-old's deal is due to expire next summer.

King will be free to enter pre-contract talks with interested clubs from January, with the title claiming the teenager could command a compensation fee of around £250,000.
