Nate Gerry has earned the trust of Eagles coaches

Nate Gerry has made a name for himself in the Eagles organization after switching from safety to linebacker after being drafted by the team as a safety out of Nebraska. With the Acquisition of Zach Brown and some talented undrafted free agents, Gerry could be the odd man out in the Eagles linebacker rotation.

Gerry grew as a player for the Eagles in 2018, playing all three linebacker positions and starting two of the 13 games he appeared in. Gerry finished the season with 23 tackles, two pass breakups, and an interception while being solid in coverage.

Gerry has made big strides since being drafted and he’s even gained the trust of his coaches.

“Nate, without a doubt, he’s smarter than I am in the media room. He gets it,” said Eagles linebackers coach Ken Flajole via Eagles 24/7. “When you got a back end perspective, particularly when it comes to the coverage part of it, I think it gives you a unique perspective. He’s the one guy that understands how everything fits together with the back end.

“I have a lot of trust in him. I think I can put him in any position. He knows what every position with the linebackers (and) what they do.”

With Nigel Bradham, Zach Brown and Kamu Grugier-Hill locking up spots, Gerry will compete with Paul Worrilow, T.J. Edwards, Joey Alfieri, and Alex Singleton for a roster spot.
