Nate Diaz's surprise call-out after UFC 241 win over Anthony Pettis

Nate Diaz called out his next opponent after beating Anthony Pettis - but it was not Conor McGregor .

Diaz dominated the former lightweight champion over three rounds in his first fight in three years.

And he then called out the in-form welterweight Jorge Masvidal, rather than chase a third fight with McGregor.

Diaz said: "It's the Nate Diaz army, motherf*****! The reason I was off was because everyone sucked, there was nobody to fight.

"With this belt I want to defend it against... Jorge Masvidal had a good last fight, a good last fight.

"All respect to the man, but there ain't no gangsters in the sport, there ain't nobody who does it right but me and him.

"I know my man's a gangster but he's no West Coast gangster."

Later, he added: "I could be out for 10 years. I don't care; I'm a fighter for life.

"I don't think a lay-off matters or should matter, if you're a fighter you're a fighter and you should hop back in and do what you've got to do; kill and don't be killed, get the job done.

"I felt him going in and out a little, I was tired because I pushed the pace from go. It's a little different from five-round fights, I didn't have a super amount of energy to turn it up."

Fighting at welterweight, California native Diaz landed a late takedown to finish the first round strongly before pressuring Pettis against the fence in the second and landing some heavy strikes to the head and body.

Pettis did well to survive an onslaught of blows midway through the third and final round, but he couldn't do enough on the ground in the closing minutes to stop his 34-year-old opponent from getting a unanimous decision win on the scorecards of the judges.
