Nate Burleson: Titans are ‘built for a Super Bowl run’ in 2020

Former NFL wide receiver and one of the hosts of NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football”, Nate Burleson, has been a believer in the Tennessee Titans since last season — and that has carried over into 2020.

Burleson thinks the Titans are in a good position for the coming campaign after locking down quarterback Ryan Tannehill and running back Derrick Henry to long-term deals this offseason.

“I feel like they locked down the three most important things this offseason. That’s the quarterback in Ryan Tannehill, the running back in Derrick Henry, and they locked down the same type of hunger they had last year,” Burleson said on GMFB.

He also believes the Titans’ ability to run the football means they’re “built for a Super Bowl run.”

“But just think about how they can run the ball in November, December and in the postseason. This team is built for a playoff run. This team is built for a Super Bowl run,” Burleson explained. “So, as far as these other teams that are going to be high-flying, throwing the ball all over the place during the season, can they do that in January? I don’t think so, but I know the Titans they can run the rock in January.”

The Titans certainly showed how important running the football is during last year’s playoffs, as Henry carried the team on his back through the first two rounds, totaling 377 yards and two touchdowns (one passing) combined.

Perhaps most importantly, the Titans finally seem to have found an answer at quarterback in Tannehill, who was able to be the perfect complement to the rushing attack, leading to the Titans having one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL in the second half of the season.

If the Titans can put it altogether offensively once again in 2020 and improve their pass-rush, which was their downfall in the AFC Championship Game, there’s no reason to believe this team can’t make another deep playoff run.
