Natanael Cano Filmed Punching DJ On-Stage at Baja Beach Fest

Regional Mexican star Natanael Cano shocked attendees when he violently confronted his DJ, ultimately destroying the DJ's laptop and other equipment on stage during the closing of Baja Beach Fest 2025. Cano was headlining the festival and promoting his recently released album 'Porque la demora.'

However, his performance soon spiraled into chaos after technical issues disrupted the performance. Cano became visibly agitated when a wrong track played unexpectedly. He stormed toward his DJ mid‑performance, unleashing a punch that visibly struck the staff member. The confrontation quickly escalated, with the DJ striking back and sparking a physical altercation onstage.

In the videos released on social media, published by attendees, the Mexican artist can be heard saying, "What's happening? Stop that,... Son of a bitch. Fuck that shit, n—a. I'll fuck him up and fire him. Get out of the way, I came to sing here, dumbass... This asshole, I'm going to kick his ass. He hit me."

In a dramatic move, Cano seized the DJ's laptop and hurled it to the stage floor with force. Reports vary, but many describe the singer dragging, stepping on, and crushing the device in plain view of the audience. Once the frenzy subsided, Cano returned to center stage beside his bandmates and posed for the cameras, raising his bruised knuckles.

The crowd reaction was split: some cheered or laughed, while others booed and expressed horror at the outburst. Both Cano's team and the festival organizers have yet to respond publicly to the incident. This outburst comes amid a period of heightened controversy for the 24‑year‑old artist. Recently, he has faced backlash over alleged parking violations in disabled spaces and legal issues, including a cohecho accusation related to an alleged bribe to police in Sonora.

Cano also found himself threatened by a criminal group known as Los Mata Salas, which left a narcomanta in Hermosillo, Sonora, accusing him and other musicians of supporting Los Salazar, a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel. He also found himself in hot water recently when he stated that he would perform for anyone who would pay him, including narcos. He stated, "I'll sing here or in China if they pay me. I don't ask who they are."

Though no official statement has been released, Rolling Stone reports that a source close to Cano said the DJ's "numerous mistakes" throughout the set pushed him over the edge.
