Natalya has bottle thrown at her as WWE stage historic women's match in Saudi Arabia

The historic WWE women's match in Saudi Arabia was overshadowed after Natalya had a bottle thrown at her while making her way to the ring.

The likes of Tyson Fury - making his debut appearance - and Brock Lesnar all featured at the Crown Jewel event but it was the all-women's match which was seen as a groundbreaking moment for WWE.

Natalya and Lacey Evans went head to head in Riyadh, in what was the first-ever WWE women's match in Saudi Arabia.

But as the former made her way down the stage, video footage caught the moment a bottle was thrown in her direction.

The bottle appeared to strike the WWE superstar on the leg but she didn't appear bothered and continued to head towards the ring.

Fans were livid too, with one writing on social media: “Someone threw a water bottle at Natalya during her entrance. That's not funny. It's disrespectful. #WWECrownJewel”

Another wrote: "I'm so proud of Natalya she looks so happy to be there making history. But that loser who threw that water bottle at her can go kick rocks #WWECrownJewel."

And Natalya put the saga behind her to clinch a history-making win.

A women's fight had been lined up for Super ShowDown earlier this year but did not go ahead.

The WWE superstar clinched the victory (WWE)

Female wrestlers had previously been unable to perform in Saudi Arabia due to the limited rights women have in the Kingdom.

Back in 2017, Saudi Arabia confirmed women would be allowed to attend sporting events in stadiums for the first time, with other restrictions since limited.

The failure to include female stars at last year's Crown Jewel event drew led to criticism of WWE, but they had pushed to get a women's match on the card.
