Natalie Imbruglia responds to 'crossover' rumours with Jennifer Aniston

Natalie Imbruglia has commented on the suggestion that her former boyfriend David Schwimmer may have had feelings for Jennifer Aniston while they were dating.

The Australian actress and singer shot to fame in Neighbours as Beth Brennan in the Ramsay Street soap between 1992 and 1994. She then had a global hit with Torn in 1997. At the same time, she was in a high-profile relationship with Friends star David Schwimmer.

He and his co-star Jennifer Aniston recently admitted to "crushing hard" on each other during filming the hugely successful sitcom during the 1990s.

Natalie was being interviewed on KIIS FM's Kyle and Jackie O radio show, when the subject of the co-stars' secret romantic feelings came up. She joked, "Were you wondering if there was a crossover?

She continued, "I thought that too… No, I’m joking."

Natalie, now 46, told her interviewers that as the relationship was more than 20 years ago, she couldn't recall all of the details. Although she did reveal that the cast of Friends were welcoming to her.

"It was such a long time ago, I don’t remember," she added.

"I remember being on set and everyone being lovely and really, really nice." But she wasn't able to confirm whether she'd spotted any signs of affection between David, now 52, and Jennifer.

"I wasn’t paying attention to whether they were giving each other you know, little looks over my shoulder," she laughed.

Natalie and David hooked up in 1996, at the heights of the Friends global frenzy. At the time, David's character Ross Geller had unrequited love for Jennifer's character, Rachel Green. Fans around the world were thrilled when the couple eventually got together. The actors admitted earlier last month that their emotions had spilled over off set, too.

"I had a major crush on Jen," admitted David during the HBO Max special. Jennifer agreed she felt the same. The 52-year old returned to this subject yesterday, when she spoke on DJ Howard Stern's radio show on Sirius FM yesterday.

She revealed: "The beauty of that was that whatever feelings we had we just literally channeled everything into Ross and Rachel and I think that’s maybe why it resonated the way it did."
