Natalie Hendry: Edinburgh singer once signed to record giants Sony passes away

A talented Edinburgh singer once signed to the same record label as Britney Spears has died.

Tributes have been paid to Natalie Hendry, known as Litl Nat, after her sudden death at the age of 32 last Friday.

The Daily Record reports that the musician sang with reggae band Project Bona Fide and was tipped for the top when she was signed to record label giants Sony in 2008.

In a social media tribute her sister Monique Hendry posted: "Natalie, I can’t believe your gone. No more singing at the top of your lungs in the house, no more sis dates, no more arguing over clothes, no more dance sessions in my room, no more claiming who’s dad’s favourite daughter lol.

"Never in my life thought I was going to lose you Natalie.

“It hurts to see everyone sharing her music now and her music becoming popular now she’s gone. All I can hear in my head is you singing the last beautiful song you sung to the family 6 days ago.”

Dozens of people shared tributes to Natalie after learning the sad news.

The Record reports she was signed by Sony after impressing in a number of auditions, however the contract was ended after she encountered trouble with the law. She admitted possession of an offensive weapon and was ordered to undertake a 15-month drug treatment order to get clean.

A funding page has been set up by friends to help pay for funeral costs, with £1,260 raised at time of writing.

A spokesperson for the Crown Office said: “The Procurator Fiscal has received a report in connection with the death of a 32-year-old woman in Edinburgh on January 29.

“The investigation into the death, under the direction of Scottish Fatalities Investigation Unit (SFIU), is ongoing and the family will continue to be kept updated in relation to any significant developments.”
