Newcastle United have emerged as Burnley's rivals for Liverpool defender Nat Phillips, according to reports.
Both Burnley and Newcastle are believed to have an interest in the 24-year-old after his excellent performances for the Reds this season.
Phillips enjoyed a breakout season at Anfield after injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, and Newcastle are said to be armed with a £50million war chest for the transfer window.
The defender impressed last season when he stepped up in Liverpool's hour of need after Van Dijk, Gomez and Matip all fell to injuries but he is may now want to seek first-team football.
With the three centre-backs set to return from injury and new £35million signing Ibrahima Konate arriving from RB Leipzig, Phillips' chances of making it into the team are slim.
The Clarets are on the hunt for defensive reinforcements and have already lodged a bid for Stoke City defender Nathan Collins, also targeting Nottingham Forest's Joe Worrall and Collins' teammate Harry Souttar.
