Nat Phillips goes to war as Fulham celebrations revealed after win at Liverpool

Liverpool suffered a club record sixth successive home loss with a dire setback against Fulham on Sunday.

Mario Lemina's goal shortly before half-time was enough to condemn the Reds to a desperately dreary 1-0 defeat.

The result means Jurgen Klopp’s side now face an uphill struggle to claim a top-four berth and Champions League qualification.

But there was plenty that went unnoticed or under the radar during the 90 minutes at Anfield.

Phillips a cut above

Nat Phillips continues to not let anybody down with his performances in defence.

And the centre-back even lent his hand to the attack in the closing moments as Liverpool searched in vain for an equaliser.

The Reds defender was then spotted running back to his position casually wiping blood from his head after nodding an effort off target.

Phillips was non-plussed about it all. Liverpool need a bit more of that attitude.

Ox shows off

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain hasn't seen a huge amount of first-team action this season.

That, though, didn't prevent him embarking on a bit of showboating during the warm-up on Sunday.

Oxlade-Chamberlain crossed with a rabona for Trent Alexander-Arnold to volley home, and then pinged a shot into the top corner from inside the centre circle.

Admittedly there was nobody between the sticks at the time but, hey, Liverpool will take any Anfield goal right now.

Fulham get the beers in

The cheers booming from the away dugout on the final whistle indicated Fulham rather enjoyed their afternoon at Anfield.

And at least some of the party were going to enjoy the trip down south even more.

A representative of Fulham was overheard by a colleague asking a steward outside the Main Stand where the nearest off-licence is so they could stock up on alcohol.

Mind you, it could have just been to help them deal with the sight of Scott Parker's jacket. Good grief.

The darkness ends (for a bit)

Look, not a lot happened on the pitch at Anfield on Sunday. And even less happened off it, save the odd plane flying over with a banner message.

But there was one thing the absence of which was roundly welcomed by everyone inside the stadium - darkness.

Incredibly, this was Liverpool's first home game to have started and ended in daylight since the 1-1 draw with Burnley on July 11 last year.

Who knows, maybe it's a sign that sunnier times are ahead for Klopp's side. Let's be honest, they'd take any positive right now.
