Liverpool defender Nat Phillips has opened up on his plan for the summer after helping the club secure a top four finish.
The Reds centre-back played a key role in helping Jurgen Klopp’s side finish in third place in the Premier League which books the club’s place in next season’s Champions League.
Starting the season out well down the centre-back pecking order, Phillips rose to the occasion with 19 appearances in all competitions including all of the last five which resulted in victories.
The 24-year-old also bagged his first professional goal in the midweek win over Burnley, and helped Liverpool claim back-to-back clean sheets to finish the season.
Given that Phillips will not be away on international duty, the defender has opened up on his play to stay fit throughout the summer and his aspirations for pre-season.
“Yes, certainly,” Phillips told LFCTV, when asked if he wants to continue having a big role to play in a Liverpool shirt.
He added: “Don’t get me wrong, even though I feel like this season’s been successful for me, I know that I’ve got plenty to work on and plenty to improve on.
“That’s what I’ll be doing in the off-season, I’ll have a little break and then get back to training on my own and work on things maybe you don't get the opportunity to during the season, because it’s so intense.
“So I’ll be doing that and hopefully have a strong pre-season, just continue to develop and build on what I’ve done so far this year.”
