Nasty Scots carer who threatened to send picture of soiled pensioner to his wife is struck off

A carer who threatened to take pictures of a pensioner who had soiled himself and send them to his wife has been struck off.

Jacquilyn MacKenzie, who worked at the New Carron Care Home in Falkirk , subjected residents of the home to "abusive, cruel, neglectful and violent" treatment.

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) took the decision after she also refused to take a female resident to the and toilet and assaulted another by pulling her by the legs.

The dismissal comes after MacKenzie, a supervisor at the home, was charged by Police Scotland after her behaviour was reported.

She was handed a Community Payback Order with unpaid work after being found guilty at Falkirk Sheriff Court.

MacKenzie was struck off the SSSC register earlier this week after the abuse occurred in January last year.

A report into MacKenzie by the SSSC read: "You abused the trust that was placed in you as a social service worker.

"Your behaviour caused distress to residents in their own home, a place where they were entitled to feel safe and well cared for.

"Your behaviour is fundamentally incompatible with continuing to be a social service worker.

"This was a pattern involving three different residents over two separate night shifts a few days apart.

'You have denied behaving in this manner however you have been convicted.

"There has not been any meaningful apology."

The SSSC believed there was a high risk of re-offending due to her denial of any wrongdoing.

The report read: "There is a high risk of the behaviour occurring again given your denial of wrongdoing, lack of insight, reflection or apology, the serious nature of the behaviour and the values issues that such cruel and abusive behaviour suggests.

"Repetition of similar behaviour would place vulnerable people at acute risk of serious harm."
