Nasty Gal shopper claims £1.50 gold hoops made ear pour with blood after one wear

A young woman has claimed that her ear started pouring with blood after she wore a set of Nasty Gal earrings just once.

After ordering a pair of earrings for her summer holiday, Hannah Riggans, 21, popped the gold hoops in as soon as they arrived.

However, after inserting the earring into her right ear just once the student claims she felt a sharp pain so immediately removed it from her ear.

Upon doing so, she claims her ear started to pour with blood and now - three weeks on - is still feeling the pain from the jewellery.

Hannah, from Glasgow, said: "I had never shopped at Nasty Gal before but had always heard good things about them, so decided to look on their website for holiday clothes.

"I really liked these earrings so as soon as they arrived I put them into my ear.

"I didn't expect astounding quality due to the fact they were only £1.50 in the sale, but as they are a well-known company I didn't expect them to be dangerous.

"But as soon as I put the earring in I felt a sharp pain, so slowly pried it back out of my ear.

"When I did, my ear started to bleeding and it became really painful.

"I wanted to share my story to raise awareness for others to avoid wearing these earrings, as they caused me a lot of pain which I am still dealing with now - three weeks on."

After her ear had stopped bleeding, Hannah claims she began to quickly clean the wound.

She said: "After it stopped bleeding I used salt spray that I had which is meant to clean piercings.

"I also took painkillers in hope that it would reduce the inflammation.

"But even now my ear still feels tender to touch and it's hard to tell if it has properly healed.

"I just hope that others don't have the same experience as me."

Hannah has received an email from Nasty Gal offering her a refund and promising to investigate further.

The company declined to comment to the press.
